To provide loan services of recently published Chinese books; open-stack reading services of photo-offset copies of the Complete Library of the Four Branches of Literature and related series, Chinese reference books, including encyclopedias,dictionaries, biographical information, bibliography index, and so on; closed-stack reading services of part of attached disks of books; to provide digital resources retrieval services and book return service of the Capital Library Alliance.

Children’s Library

To enter the Children’s Library, readers need to obtain Wechat (or telephone) reservation code for the current day and following three days through “ Reader Services” of the public account of “The National Library of China Service Account” or calling 4006006988/010-88545426 for real-name reservation. To provide closed-stack reading services of Chinese books, periodicals and newspapers in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas countries. Users aged 16 years or above must carry their own Reader Cards for closed-stack reading. For certain documents, readers must present recommendation letters (bureau level or above) with personal details, research documents, purpose and expiration date (recommendation letters must indicate the contact number of the issuing institutions, which are valid for one month at most).

Yearbooks: to provide open-stack reading services of national comprehensive yearbooks, statistical yearbooks, professional yearbooks, yearbooks of colleges and universities, community yearbooks and enterprise yearbooks which are published after 1949, and part of yearbooks published in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

New Chronicles: to provide open-stack reading services of comprehensive chronicles, professional chronicles, and other various kinds of chronicles published after 1949, and provide closed-stack reading services of yearbooks, historical accounts of past events and local chronicles published informally after 1949 in China.

Reading Room for Publications of International Organizations & Foreign Governments

To provide open-stack reading services of publications of UN headquarters and special organizations, relevant UN agencies, European Union (European Community), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Asian Development Bank and so on after 2000; to provide open-stack reading services of US government publications and Canadian government publications after 2000; to provide closed-stack reading services of microform documents ofCongressional Information Service.

Research Centre for Overseas Chinese Studies
