The Third China-Russia Library Forum is held in Moscow, Russia

From 14 August to 15 August, the Third China-Russia Library Forum, which was sponsored by the Russian State Library (RSL) and the National Library of China (NLC), and supported by the Russian Library Association and the Library Society of China (LSC), was held in the RSL. Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC, Deputy Director of the NLC and Chairman of the LSC, led a delegation to participate in the forum with more than 100 representatives from the library communities of China and Russia.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Hanhui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia, delivered a speech on behalf of the Chinese side, Alexejewa, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, delivered a speech on behalf of Minister Lyubimova, and Shvetskoy, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, sent a congratulatory letter to the forum. Chen Ying delivered a keynote speech on behalf of the NLC titled "The Practice of Cultural Heritage Protection and Inheritance in the Chinese Library Community". Vadim Duda, General Director of the RSL, delivered a keynote speech on behalf of the RSL named "Preservation of Documentary Heritage as an Element in Ensuring National Cultural Security".

The forum focused on the theme of "Best Practices for Cultural Heritage Protection and Inheritance", with representatives from Chinese and Russian libraries engaging in exchanges and discussions.

 

During the forum, Chen Ying and Vadim Duda signed the "Cooperation Agreement on Digital Reproduction of Manuscripts between the National Library of China and the National Library of Russia" on behalf of the two libraries respectively. Both sides would promote the cooperation and development of Chinese ancient books in the Russian collections based on this agreement. The Capital Library and the Russian Far Eastern State Scientific Library had also signed an interlibrary cooperation agreement.
