On 30 June, the Exhibition of Four Decades of Document Microfilming in Chinese Libraries, sponsored by the National Library of China (NLC) and organized by China National Microfilming Center for Library Resources, opened at the NLC.
The exhibition consisted of four major sections, i.e. "Foundations," "Striving," "Achievements," and "Innovation." Through various forms such as documentary artifacts, technical equipment, historical archives, video materials, and immersive interactive experiences, it comprehensively reviewed the practical explorations and significant achievements of Chinese library community in document microfilming preservation field since 1985, under the leadership of China National Microfilming Center for Library Resources. It presented the unremitting efforts made by public libraries across the country in the protection and inheritance of excellent traditional Chinese culture. The exhibition featured a specially designed "Microfilm Viewing Area," where visitors could intuitively experience the authentic details of microfilms through microfilm equipment, and personally appreciate this exquisite craftsmanship.
From 30 June to 1 July, the 2025 National Public Library Microfilming Work Conference & Consultation Meeting on the "15th Five-Year" Development Plan for Document Microfilming was held concurrently at the NLC. The conference studied and discussed the "15th Five-Year" Development Plan for Document Microfilming Work in National Libraries (2026-2030), comprehensively deploying the development goals and key tasks for the document microfilming cause of Chinese libraries during the "15th Five-Year" period.
The exhibition, which was open to the public free of charge, was located in the sixth exhibition hall of the National Museum of Classic Books and would last until 31 July.
