The 2025 Silk Road International Library Alliance Conference is held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province

On 27 May, the 2025 Silk Road International Library Alliance Conference was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The theme of this conference was "Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development of Libraries", and more than 80 directors and expert representatives from 26 institutions in 15 countries including Bangladesh, Iran, Jamaica, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and China were invited to participate in the conference.

The representatives of the member organizations of the Silk Road International Library Alliance, in combination with their own actual situations, focused on the relevant cases and best practices of libraries in the field of cultural heritage, exchanged views on the sustainable development of libraries, and provided innovative ideas for the joint construction of national libraries along the "The Belt and Road".

Since its establishment in 2018, the membership of the Silk Road International Library Alliance has been continuously expanding, with 51 institutions from 39 countries currently joining. Through the construction of the "Silk Road Digital Library" website, we will continuously promote the construction of digital libraries along the Silk Road and achieve cross-border exchange of digital resources and precious literature. A series of librarian seminars and alliance academic forums on the theme of jointly building the "The Belt and Road" countries were held in succession, forming a cooperation mechanism covering document resource sharing, library talent training, and information exchange among member institutions. In addition, with the support and drive of the Alliance, the bilateral exchanges and multilateral cooperation in the joint construction of national libraries along the "The Belt and Road" have been continuously deepening and achieved fruitful results. The Alliance's role has become increasingly prominent, and its influence in international library affairs continues to grow.

This conference was hosted by the National Library of China and the Secretariat of the League of Arab States, organized by Department of Publicity and United Front Work, the CPC Working Committee of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, and co-organized by Nanjing Jiangbei Library.
