Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC and Deputy Director of the NLC, leads a delegation to attend the 30th Conference of Directors of National Libraries in Asia and Oceania

From 16 November to 17 November, Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC and Deputy Director of the NLC, led a 3-person delegation to attend the 30th Conference of Directors of National Libraries in Asia and Oceania (CDNLAO) in the United Arab Emirates.

This conference, held in Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, was sponsored by the National Library and Archives of the United Arab Emirates. 32 representatives from 16 countries attended the conference. There were 3 themes in the conference, i.e. "The Role of Libraries in Supporting Sustainable Development Goals", "Green Libraries and Environmental Sustainability", and "Social Education on Sustainability in Libraries". Chen Ying gave a conference report on the theme of "Working Together to Promote Sustainable Development".

During the conference, Chen Ying had close communication with representatives from Korea, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Qatar and so on to further consolidate and deepen inter-library cooperation, jointly organize exhibitions on classic books and training courses for librarians on ancient book preservation, and carry out more international cooperation projects under the framework of the Silk Road International Library Alliance. After the conference, Chen Ying also had an exchange with director of Research and Knowledge Services Department of the National Library and Archives of the United Arab Emirates. Both sides had reached a preliminary consensus on continuously expanding the participation of libraries in the region, enhancing business exchanges and sharing, and comprehensively enhancing the discourse power of Asian libraries in the global library community through the platform of the CDNLAO.

Before the CDNLAO, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of the first Dubai International Library Conference.
