On 26 June, Zhang Jun, Deputy Director of the National Library of China (NLC), led a 5-person delegation to Washington for business exchanges with the Library of Congress (LOC). The delegation visited the LOC and had discussions with relevant officials of the library. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on promoting deeper and more effective cooperation between the two libraries in new areas, ancient books digitalization and joint publication, ancient books restoration, document exchange, personnel training, and so on.
From 27 June to 29 June, the delegation attended the 2024 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in San Diego. The delegation attended the opening ceremony of the conference, meetings of relevant affiliated institutions, and exhibitions. During the conference, Zhang Jun exchanged ideas with Emily Drabinski, Chairman of the ALA, Michael Dowling, Director of the ALA International Exchange Department, Vicki McDonald, the IFLA President, and Leslie Weir, the IFLA President-elect.
