From 23 June to 30 June, on the invitation of the British Library (BL) and the National Library of Ireland (NLI), Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC and Deputy Director of the NLC, led a 5-person delegation to visited Britain and Ireland.
During the visit to Britain, Roly Keating, Chief Executive of the BL, met with the delegation and had in-depth discussions on the future cooperation between the two libraries. The delegation attended 2024 UK-China Library Forum, and Chen Ying delivered a keynote speech titled "Libraries: Providing Professional Support and Services for the Public's Pursuit of a Better and Happy Life".
During the visit to Ireland, He Xiangdong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, met with the delegation and discussed further exchanges and cooperation in the future. Subsequently, the delegation held working talks with Audrey Whitty, Director of the NLI, to explore future interlibrary cooperation and exchanges. The delegation also visited the Chester Beatty Museum and visited important collections, such as the Yongle Encyclopedia, and so on.
