The 16th Council Meeting of the Conference on Cooperative Development and Sharing of Chinese Resources is held

On 7 November, the 16th Council Meeting of the Conference on Cooperative Development and Sharing of Chinese Resources was held in the National Library of China (NLC). Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC and Deputy Director of the NLC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of the NLC Research Institute (Coordination & Operation Management Division), Zhang Xu, Director of the NLC International Cooperation Division, Wang Yang, Director of the NLC Chinese Acquisitions & Cataloguing Department and the NLC Foreign Language Publications Acquisitions & Cataloguing Department, Yin Hanchao, Deputy Director of the NLC Legislative Reference Service Department, and representatives from Peking University Library, National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hong Kong Central Library, the Department of Public Library Management, Macao, the Library and Information Management Association of Macao, Center for Chinese Studies, attended the conference. 

In her speech, Chen Ying said that the Conference on Cooperative Development and Sharing of Chinese Resources provided a rare exchange platform for the communication between the Chinese library community and the academic community, helping to broaden horizons, broaden ideas, and provide opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation among member institutions. In the future, the conference will continue to take promoting academic exchange and cooperative development and sharing of resources as its purpose, encourage the promotion of bilateral or multilateral resource cooperation based on the principles of open construction, complementary advantages and common development. She hoped that the conference can not only promote cooperation on specific projects, but also further stimulate various forms of communication and cooperation among libraries in various regions.

At the meeting, Zhang Xu made a work report on behalf of the Council Secretariat, reporting on the Council's work over the past year, and proposing suggestions and plans for expanding the scope of Council members and seeking relevant fund support in the future. Yin Hanchao made a report named "Practice and Prospects of Chinese Resources Construction of Chinese Studies of the National Library of China". The meeting also discussed how to further leverage the roles of cooperative development and sharing platform, deepen discussions and cooperation among member institutions, and determined the relevant affairs for holding the 15th Conference on Cooperative Development and Sharing of Chinese Resources next year.

The Conference on Cooperative Development and Sharing of Chinese Resources is an international cooperation conference initiated by the NLC, with Chinese resources as the main axis. It mainly discusses the issues of cooperative development and sharing of Chinese resources across regions, aiming to promote the exchange and cooperation among Chinese libraries and Chinese resources collection institutions in the worldwide. The Council was established in 2007 as the management body of the Conference on Cooperative Development and Sharing of Chinese Resources, with its secretariat headquartered in the NLC. The members of the Council are composed of libraries in Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the United States. The Council meeting is held once a year to strengthen coordination and communication among Chinese resources collection institutions in various regions, and to better serve the biennial conference.
