On August 17th, Zhang Zhiqing, Executive Deputy Director of the National Library of China (NLC), met with Batir Tursunov, Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, and his delegation. Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of the Research Institute (Coordination & Operation Management Division), and Zhang Xu, Director of the International Cooperation Division, were present at the meeting.
Batir Tursunov expressed hope that China and Uzbekistan can strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the cultural field and start exchanging children's books to gradually promote the construction of a bridge of friendship between China and Uzbekistan.
Zhang Zhiqing introduced to the guests his recent visit to Uzbekistan with a delegation from the NLC, visiting the Islamic Civilization Center, and signing a cooperation agreement under the framework of the Silk Road Library Alliance. He said that China and Uzbekistan are both important ancient civilizations, and the Silk Road connects the two countries and their peoples. Exchanging books between them is an effective way to bring the two peoples closer, and the NLC is willing to carry out relevant cooperation.
