On July 1, on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the CPC, the Third Dialogue on Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning and the branch session of the First World Conference of Sinologists were held in Qingdao. Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Deputy Director of the National Library of China (NLC), attended the conference and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Qingdao World Sinology Center on behalf of the NLC. Sinologists and guests from over 60 countries around the world gathered together to witness this crucial moment.
Before the signing ceremony, Chen Ying and Liu Li, Chairman of the World Council of Sinologists, delivered speeches. The ceremony was presided over by Xu Baofeng, Director of the World Sinology Center and Director of the Belt and Road Academy of Beijing Language and Culture University.
Chen Ying sent congratulations on behalf of the NLC on the convening of the conference. In her speech, she emphasized that sinological documents are not only the research achievements of sinologists, but also the witness of the intersection and integration of diverse cultures and the exchange and mutual learning of Eastern and Western civilizations. The NLC is one of the key institutions for the collection and academic research of Sinology literature worldwide. It has established a collection system of Sinology literature covering diverse types of materials, different languages, and complete disciplines. Both sides will take the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement as an opportunity to jointly build a platform for academic exchange and discussion on sinology, and strive to promote more fruitful results in sinology research, so that it can continuously burst with vitality in the new era, and make more positive contributions to deepening the exchange and mutual learning of Chinese and foreign civilizations. Chen Ying also invited sinologists from around the world to visit the NLC, saying that the NLC will provide greater support for the exchange and research of sinologists in the library.
iu Li said, the Qingdao World Sinology Center has a profound foundation in sinology research and a wide network of sinologists. The cooperation between the two sides is deepened based on common values and mission, and on the capabilities of both parties to further leverage their respective strengths, broaden cooperation areas, and promote more fruitful results. Both sides start from "deepening cultural exchanges and mutual learning to promote the Chinese culture to the world stage", and follow the direction of "strengthening international communication to showcase China in an authentic, three-dimensional and comprehensive way", in order to boost the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent traditional Chinese culture, promote the thriving of sinology worldwide, and make contributions to the progress of human civilization.
According to the agreement, both parties will fully leverage their respective advantages in resources, technologies, services and talents, especially basic resources such as database, information base and repository. They will strengthen cooperation in key areas such as enhancing cooperation, optimizing resource sharing, strengthening communication and interaction, and conducting academic research on literature. They will work together to carry out comprehensive, multi-level, and wide-ranging cooperation, promoting the development of sinology worldwide and the people-to-people connectivity between China and other countries.
After the signing ceremony, Chen Ying visited the academic achievements exhibition and oil painting exhibition of Sinology and Chinese Studies organized by the Qingdao World Sinology Center. During the visit, the NLC donated multiple books to the Qingdao World Sinology Center. Li Chunming, Director of the Research Centre for Overseas Chinese Studies, and Yin Hanchao, Deputy Director, attended the conference and signing ceremony.
