Xiong Yuanming, Director of the NLC, signs a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chairman of the Board of the National Library and Information System Authority of Trinidad and Tobago

On June 15, Xiong Yuanming, Director of the National Library of China (NLC), met with Neil Parsanlal, the Chairman of the Board of the National Library and Information System Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (NALIS), and Liu Na, the ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago to China. Xiong Yuanming and Neil Pasanlar signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the NLC and the NALIS on behalf of both sides. 

 

 

Xiong Yuanming introduced the general situation of the NLC, the current development status of the Silk Road International Library Alliance, and the direction of cooperation between the two libraries. Xiong Yuanming said that China and Trinidad and Tobago had a good history of communication and cultural exchanges between the two countries had become increasingly extensive. In April 2023, the NALIS joined the Silk Road International Library Alliance and strengthened bilateral cooperation with the NLC. The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two libraries marked the beginning of a new chapter in library exchanges between China and Trinidad and Tobago. 

 

Neil Pasanlar introduced the basic national conditions of Trinidad and Tobago, the development of the NALIS, and the main cases of friendly cooperation between the two countries in recent years. He said that the NALIS would support the construction and development of the Silk Road International Library Alliance. He hoped that the NALIS would take this opportunity to continuously learn advanced library construction concepts and experiences, and to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in multiple fields based on the Memorandum of Understanding. 

 

 

After the meeting, Neil Pasanlar and his delegation visited the National Museum of Classic Books and the NLC North Area, and participated in the program of World Library Director Interview.
