On 23 May, the National Library of China (NLC) and Lijiang Municipal Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement at the Lijiang Library, which would strengthen cooperation in the areas of cooperative development and sharing of literature resources, promoting nationwide reading, protecting intangible cultural heritage and ancient books, developing cultural and creative products, and creating cultural and tourism spaces. They would contribute to promoting cultural confidence and self-improvement in the new era and creating new brilliance in socialist culture together.

Xiong Yuanming, Director of the NLC, Xiao Jian, a Member of CPC Lijiang Standing Committee and Vice Mayor of Lijiang City, signed strategic cooperation agreements and delivered speeches on behalf of the NLC and Lijiang Municipal Government respectively. Rao Xiangbi, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, attended the above activities.

Xiong Yuanming said that in recent years, with culture as the soul, Lijiang City had forged multiple influential cultural and tourism brands around the development theme of cultural and tourism integration. At the ceremony, the NLC donated 20000 books to the Lijiang Library, and at the same time, the Lijiang Municipal Government donated part of Naxi Dongba ancient documents to the NLC.
