Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC, meets with Kim Jin Gon, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in China

On March 29th, Chen Ying, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Deputy Director of the National Library of China (NLC), met with Kim Jin Gon, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in China, and his delegation.

Chen Ying briefly introduced the NLC and reviewed the communication history between the NLC and the National Library of Korea. She said that the over 25-year history of communication and cooperation between both libraries had greatly promoted mutual understanding and learning, setting a good example for regional cooperation in the library community. She also expressed hope that the two libraries continue to work together to promote common development of librarianship.

Kim Jin Gon said, the exchange of library business between China and Korea has a good tradition, and the offline communication between them, which was interrupted for three years due to the pandemic, has now been restored. He looked forward to the success of the 23rd business exchange between the libraries to be held in Korea in September this year, and said that the Korean Cultural Center in China will continue to actively promote cultural exchanges between the two countries. Kim Jin Gon donated books to the NLC, including the Selected Cases of the Supreme Court of Korea.

After the meeting, Chen Ying accompanied Kim Jin Gon and his delegation to visit the Law Library and the Second Reading Room of Foreign Language Literature, with special focus on the collections, services and development of the Law Library. During the visit, she expressed hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Korea in the field of library legislative services, and actively share experiences and achievements. Kim Jin Gon and his delegation also visited the National Museum of Classic Books and the reading rooms in the NLC North Area.
