The Special Exhibition of the Communist Manifesto is opened in the NLC

On 8 July, the Special Exhibition of the Communist Manifesto, which was co-sponsored by the National Library of China (NLC) and the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Municipal Committee, was opened in the NLC. Hu Heping, Secretary of CPC Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attended the activity and announced the opening of the exhibition. Rao Quan, a member of the Leading CPC Member Group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Director of the NLC, attended the activity and addressed a speech. Yu Huimin, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Municipal Committee, Jin Liang, a famous bibliophile, Li Kuiliu, a professor and German translator of Beijing Foreign Studies University, respectively delivered a speech. Wei Dawei, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC and Deputy Director of the NLC, presided over the opening ceremony.

The Communist Manifesto was the first programmatic document of the international communist movement. Its appearance marked the birth of scientific socialism and the beginning of international communist movement. This exhibition thoroughly implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's "Speech on July the First" and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's reply letter to the NLC's senior experts. It was divided into four sections, namely, the birth of the Communist Manifesto, the spread of the Communist Manifesto in the world, the spread of the Communist Manifesto in China, and the paintings of the Communist Manifesto, which vividly told the life experiences of Marx and Engels, and the course of their revolutionary friendship, showed the background and process of the birth of the Communist Manifesto, its major theoretical contributions, its translations and dissemination in the world and China, systematically sorted out the publication time, place and content characteristics of the first and important versions of the Communist Manifesto in different languages, focused on the historical value, literature value and age value of this great work, and made the audience deeply understand the great road, the great cause and the great achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

This exhibition gave full play to the complementary advantages of the NLC and the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Municipal Committee in collection, sorting, research and utilization of revolutionary historical documents, which displayed 423 titles of documents, including 166 titles of Chinese documents and 257 titles of documents in foreign languages. Among them, there were 306 tiles of various versions of the Communist Manifesto in 55 languages, such as Chinese, German, Russian, English, French, and so on, with 78 titles of Chinese versions included. In addition, the audience could also see many types of precious revolutionary historical documents, including rare books, ordinary ancient books, rare books in western languages, manuscripts, periodicals, newspapers and so on.

The exhibition adopted the combination of priority display and intensive display, supplemented by modern exhibition means such as multimedia display, and set up interactive bookshelves, electronic book flipping, scene display area, version display wall and other exhibition projects integrating knowledge, interest and interaction, which would provide more smooth and comfortable exhibition experience for the audience.
