The Seminar on the 10th Anniversary of the Revolutionary Documents and Minguo Documents Preservation Programme is held in the NLC

On 13 April, the Seminar on the 10th Anniversary of the Revolutionary Documents and Minguo Documents Preservation Programme was held in the National Library of China (NLC). Xiong Yuanming, Director of the NLC, Chen Li, a librarian of the Central Research Institute of Culture and History, a professor of Sichuan University and former Executive Deputy Director of the NLC, and Jin Yilin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, attended the seminar and addressed a speech respectively. More than 60 representatives from 41 institutions attended the seminar, which was hosted by Zhang Zhiqing, Deputy Director of the NLC.

Xiong Yuanming said that in the past 10 years, with the high attention of leaders at all levels and the active participation and joint efforts of various document collection institutions at all levels, the Revolutionary Documents and Minguo Documents Preservation Programme had achieved fruitful results on general survey, collection, research, collation, database construction, personnel training, and so on. In the future, guided by Xi Jinping's socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, the NLC would further do well the preservation work of revolutionary documents and Minguo documents, so as to welcome the 20th National Congress of the CPC with outstanding achievements.

Chen Li believed that the implementation of the Revolutionary Documents and Minguo Documents Preservation Programme had effectively preserved countless precious Minguo documents and inherited precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. He extended his congratulations on the fruitful results of the Revolutionary Documents and Minguo Documents Preservation Programme in the past 10 years, and hoped that it could achieve better results in the future.

Jin Yilin said that the advent of the digital humanistic era had brought new technologies, new ideas and new challenges to document preservation. He hoped that the NLC would continue to play a leading role in the library community, build a document cooperative development and sharing platform, and cooperate with various kinds of libraries at all levels to jointly do well the preservation work of revolutionary documents and Minguo documents.

Ma Jing, Director of the NLC Office of Minguo Documents Preservation Project, made a summary on the Revolutionary Documents and Minguo Documents Preservation Programme in the past 10 years. Chen Chao, Director of Shanghai Library, Quan Qin, Deputy Director of Nanjing Library, Ren Jing, Director of Chongqing Library, and Wei Chengguang, Director Assistant of Tsinghua University Library, made keynote speeches respectively. Chu Shuqing, Director of Zhejiang Library, Zou Xinming, Director of Special Collections Service Center, Peking University Library, and Wei Chong, Director of National Library of China Publishing House, made exchange speeches respectively.

Through this seminar, the attendees shared experiences, exchanged ideas and put forward suggestions on specific items of document preservation, further built consensus and laid a foundation for jointly promoting the smooth development of various items of document preservation.
