International organizations and foreign government publications are special collections in the National Library of China (NLC). In April 1947, according to UN Document Depository Library Regulations Beiping Library (the predecessor of NLC) has been designated as UN document depository library, starting to receive UN materials. After more than 60 years, NLC has become depository library of Canada government and 14 international organizations including ILO、 UNESCO、 WHO、 FAO、WB、 IMF、 WTO、 WMO、 ICAO、 UNWTO、UNRISD、 UNU、 ADB.

　　Except publications from previous 15 agencies, there are also various types (e.g. book, periodical, document, microfiche, CD) of publications from EU、OECD、GPUS、Rand and CIS.Until the end of 2011, the total amount has reached 735 thousand items, including 64270 titles (66942 volumes) foreign language books, 3142 titles (3260 volumes) Chinese books, 303 titles (61556 volumes) foreign language periodicals, 3876 titles (9845 items), 169930 titles (335907 pieces) microfiches and 257954 UN document. Through NLC OPAC system readers can conduct bibliographic search.

　　Collections of statistical yearbooks, economic development research reports, policies and regulations, etc published by international agencies are very popular with readers in this reading room. Among them, the statistical materials features this special collection reading room, especially those of the United Nations system, such as Statistical Yearbook, Energy Statistical Yearbook, National Accounts Statistics, International Trade Statistics, Demographic Yearbook, International Financial Statistics Yearbook, etc.
