1949	Began to receive the United Nations literatures distributed actively by United Nations.
1958	Began to receive government publications of Canada through the international exchange mode.
1963	Preliminary organized the United Nations mimeographed documents and then finished in September, 1965.
Beginning of 1973	Established "the United Nations Materials Reading Room", and set up the auxiliary stacks to especially deposit the United Nations materials.
Beginning of 1974	Began to order Rand Corporation publications.
1979	Began to order the publications of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
1982	Began to receive government publications of the United States through the international exchange mode.
December,1983	Began to receive donated publications from the World Bank.
February,1985	Renamed the reading room as "International Organizations & Foreign Government Publications Reading Room".
1986	Began to order microfiches published by Congressional Information Service (CIS).
1986	Began to accept donated literatures from European Community (predecessor of the EU).
September,1987	Along with the removal of the whole library, International Organizations and Foreign Government Publications Reading Room was moved from No. 7, Wenjin Street to No. 33, Zhongguancun Nandajie. On October 15, 1987 the reading room was officially opened to the public.
July,2003	Trial opened up the online databases of Organization for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD).
2009	Began to research on building the “Service Platform of International Organizations and Foreign Government Publications and Net Resources ".
April,2010	“Creating Partnerships with Libraries in China: Workshop for United Nations Depository Librarians" training seminar held in National Library of China, which was the first training and research seminar for the Chinese depository librarians jointly hosted by the National Library of China and the United Nations Dag Hammarskjold Library. There were more than 60 library colleagues from 21 depository libraries in China who concerning about the depository library communities attended the workshop.
February, 2011	National Library was officially listed as the depository library of World Trade Organization (WTO), which officially marked the only WTO depository library of the Mainland China.
June,2011	National Library was officially listed as the depository library of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which officially marked the only ICAO depository library of the Mainland China.
May, 2012	National Library was officially listed as the depository library of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which officially marked the only UNWTO depository library of the Mainland China.
August, 2012	The “Integrated Service Platform of International Organizations and Foreign Government Publications and Net Resources” was formally constructed.
June, 2014	National Library was officially listed as the depository library of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which officially marked the only WIPO depository library of the Mainland China.
