The European Food Safety Authority’s single programming document for 2021-2023 will guide EFSA’s activities in the next few years. Those objectives are at the core of the EFSA strategy, that reflects the fast-changing environment in which we operate. As well as a new strategy document, our future planning will also be heavily influenced by the Transparency Regulation entering into force this year, and the priorities of the European Commission – the most relevant in EFSA’s field being the European Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals. As well as increasing the transparency of EFSA’s work, the new regulation is also intended to achieve better aligned and more coordinated risk communication between EFSA, the European Commission and Member States. It also addresses the quality of studies on which EFSA bases its assessments of applications for authorisation of regulated products. The overall aim is to further foster stakeholders’ and citizens’ trust in EFSA and to make our risk assessments more robust.
