Flooding  brought  on  by  the  passage  of  hurricanes  Lisa  and  Julia  in  the  fourth  quarter  of  2022  had  a  signi  cant  impact  on  Belize’s  farming  sector,  highlighting  the  fragility  of  rural  communities  and  small-scale women farmers to water-related hazards. This report identi es water gaps, vulnerabilities, and the challenges in accessing, securing, and managing water resources. The report provides water specialists, decision  makers  and  development  agencies  with  “ready-to-use”  intelligence  to  extrapolate  integrated  water management recommendations from Orange Walk District, the Belizean context to the Caribbean reality. Additionally, the study indicates a disparity in access to  drinking  water,  with  male  headed  households  having  a  higher  access  to drinking water than female headed households. It also demonstrates that the majority of women farmers do not own the land they cultivate, lack access to capital and nancial resources to enable sustainable investment for  water  management  solutions.  These  challenges  are  in  uenced  by  factors such as the sexual division of labour, sociocultural expectations of women’s roles, social mobility, and community dynamics. Lastly, the report elabourates  on  policy  recommendations  and  strategies,  and  best  practices  addressing gender-based barriers in rural farming
