100 excellent documentaries on 70 years of China since 1949 are collected by the NLC


On 13 December, the Grand Ceremony of Documentary on 70 years of China since 1949 was held in Xi'an, which was co-sponsored the National Library of China (NLC), the China TV Artists Association, the Seventh Research Department of the Research Institute of Party History and Documents of the CPC Central Committee, Xi'an Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Xi'an Municipal Government. 100 excellent documentaries were collected in the NLC.

In his speech, Rao Quan, Director of the NLC, said that the NLC was the repository of the nation's publications and national memory resources, which preserved the best achievements of civilization and the memory of the times in all historical periods of the Chinese nation. He hoped that the copyright owners and creators of 100 documentaries would participate in the documentary collection plan, so that these precious resources could be permanently preserved, and remembered and handed down forever.

Fan Zongchai, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Secretary-general of the China TV Artists Association, said that he hoped the majority of documentary workers could stand at the intersection of history and reality, preserve national history, face opportunities and challenges such as the current media integration and technological innovation, actively innovate the industrial development mode, promote the construction of national brands, and show the style of Chinese records in the new era.

Wang Junwei, Director of the Seventh Research Department of the Research Institute of Party History and Documents of the CPC Central Committee, said that China had left a large number of image materials and precious image records since 1949, which left the most valuable common memory for hundreds of millions of Chinese people and would become a powerful spiritual power for the Chinese people in the new era to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

In the opening ceremony, Hu Zhanfan, Vice President of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and President of the China TV Artists Association, Rao Quan, Director of the NLC, Wang Junwei, Director of the Seventh Research Department of the Research Institute of Party History and Documents of the CPC Central Committee, and Zhang Lin, a member of the Standing Committee of Xi'an Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Publicity Department, awarded trophies and certificates to the creator representatives of 100 documentaries on 70 years of China since 1949. Participants, experts and scholars delivered keynote speeches on the theme of "Documentary and National Memory".

In the afternoon, the academic forum on "Documentary on 70 years of China since 1949 and National Memory" was held, which had two sessions, i.e. "How to reconstruct the narrative time and space of reality and history" and "how to reconstruct the new national memory image". In the forum, the participants discussed the historical development, creative experience and innovative mode of China's documentary industry from different perspectives, and held interactive exchanges with the on-site guests.

In the evening, the evening party was held, which showed the historical development process of China from weak to strong, and especially focused on the brilliant achievements of China's development in the new era. At the same time, the collection ceremony of 100 recommended documentaries on 70 years of China was officially launched in the evening party. Liu Xiaoli, Honorary Chairman of TV Documentary Academic Committee of the China TV Artists Association, and Gao Feng, Director of TV Documentary Academic Committee of the China TV Artists Association, delivered the collected documentaries to Rao Quan and Wang Junwei. Thus, 100 excellent documentaries on 70 years of China since 1949 were officially collected by the NLC and the Seventh Research Department of the Research Institute of Party History and Documents of the CPC Central Committee.

The documentary collection plan would be jointly implemented by the China TV Artists Association and the NLC, aiming to establish a rich and extensive documentary collection system, preserve the national history and national memory. Meanwhile, relying on various kinds of public libraries, school libraries and other cultural and educational service resources, the plan would carry out excellent documentary issue, exhibitions, reviews, academic exchanges and other public welfare activities for the public, especially teenagers, which provided places and platforms for the spread and promotion of documentaries, gave full play to the role of cultural communication and social education of documentaries, and further expanded the social awareness and influence of documentaries.
