Han Yongjin, meets with Shakhrat Nuryshev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China


On 7 February, Han Yongjin, Director of the National Library of China (NLC), met with Shakhrat Nuryshev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China, and received donated books of Kazakhstan. Sun Yigang, Deputy Director of the NLC, were also present.

 
Han Yongjin reviewed the achievements of exchanges and cooperation between China and Kazakhstan from government level to library community in 2017. From 8 June 2017 to 9 June 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Kazakhstan and attended the 17th meeting of the Council of Heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States. During the meeting, President Xi Jinping proposed a series of important cooperation proposals on politics, economics, safety, humanism, mechanism construction, and so on. On 4 June 2017, Luo Shugang, Minister of the Ministry of Culture, headed a Chinese government cultural delegation to Kazakhstan, and visited the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and so on, and reached consensus on further strengthening cultural cooperation. On 8 October 2017, Seidumanov Zhanat Turarovich, Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the NLC and signed Memorandum of Understanding between the National Library of China and the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Under the framework of the Chinese government "The Belt and Road Initiative", the NLC donated more than 300 books about China to the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan by post. Han Yongjin said the NLC would continue to enhance exchanges with the library community and culture community of Kazakhstan, and maintain friendly cooperation relationship for a long time.

Shakhrat Nuryshev said, he hoped that with books and characters as link, libraries of China and Kazakhstan could promote further cooperation in the field of culture, constantly strengthen the emotional communication between people in the two countries, and open up better prospects for cultural exchanges and cooperation in the two countries.

After the meeting, Shakhrat Nuryshev visited the National Museum of Classic Books and the NLC North Area.
