The Exhibition of Chinese and Foreign Art Classics Collected by Lu Xun is held in the National Museum of Classic Books


On 3 November, the Exhibition of Chinese and Foreign Art Classics Collected by Lu Xun, which was co-sponsored by the National Museum of Classic Books (NMCB), Beijing Luxun Museum and the New Culture Movement Memorial of Beijing, was open in the NMCB.

Lu Xun collected a large number of Chinese and foreign art books and periodicals during his lifetime. Among them, there were art collections in English, German, Japanese and Russian, which were published in foreign countries hundreds of years ago and were rarely seen today. Lu Xun compiled and published Yin Yu Ji (transliteration), which introduced printmaking works of the Soviet Union. He planned to make a continuation named Nian Hua Ji (transliteration), but he failed. This exhibition selected hundreds of collections from Chinese and foreign art books and periodicals collected by Lu Xun for display, comprehensively introduced art collections collected by Lu Xun, brought the audience into Lu Xun's art study, helped the audience apprehend Lu Xun's art accomplishments and the origin of his art ideas, inspired and influenced young people today through Lu Xun's reading life.

Lu Xun was a famous thinker and great writer in modern times. Besides the immortal literary achievements, Lu Xun also devoted himself to the art career. He was a pioneer of Chinese modern art ideas, as well as a researcher, educator and practitioner of modern art. He had held art lectures and exhibitions, supported and guided the art association, compiled art books and periodicals, translated art theories, advocated new printmaking movement in China, and made outstanding contributions to the development of Chinese modern art.
