Appreciating "Intangible Cultural Heritage Techniques with Beijing Characteristics" in the NLC


On 21 July, the Special Activity of Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Lecture Months—"Intangible Cultural Heritage Techniques with Beijing Characteristics", which was sponsored by Intangible Cultural Heritage Department, the Ministry of Culture, the National Library of China (NLC), and College of Arts, Beijing Union University, was held in the NLC. As the important part of Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Lecture Months, this activity vividly introduced six kinds of intangible cultural heritage techniques with Beijing characteristics, i.e. painted sculpture of Beijing Opera facial makeup, Opera KuiTou production technique, Beijing carved porcelain, Beijing brick carving, traditional colored-lantern making, Beijing school snuff-bottle with inside painting, in manners of on-site interview, techniques show, exhibitions, and so on.

 
The activity invited the inheritors of six kinds of intangible cultural heritage techniques, i.e. Tong Xiufen, Li Jizong, Chen Yongchang, Zhang Yan, Zhai Yuliang and Yang Zhigang, to interact and exchange with the audience, made the public appreciate intangible cultural heritage techniques at a short distance, and invited Qiu Chunlin, deputy director of Institute of Arts and Crafts, Chinese National Academy of Arts, as comment guest, who gave wonderful comments to every technique.

The activity included internal venue and external venue. During the interview in the internal venue, the moderator interviewed the inheritors of six kinds of intangible cultural heritage techniques and their disciples respectively who talked about their stories and experiences. In the external venue, the inheritors of six kinds of intangible cultural heritage techniques presented the technological process of their techniques successively, and unveiled the mysteries of these techniques.

This activity was broadcast in www.qq.com, www.btime.com, www.sina.com.cn, www.gmw.cn, Digital Library Promotion Project platform, etc. on live, and made the traditional culture and folk techniques penetrate into people's lives via new media transmission manners.
