From 12 November to 20 November, entrusted by the Ministry of Culture, the National Library of China (NLC) held the China-South Asia Library Management and Service Seminar with "Library New Development in the Internet Era" as the theme. 14 attendees from home and abroad attended the seminar, including 3 Chinese attendees from Yunnan Province, Qinghai Province, and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and 11 attendees from national libraries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Han Yongjin, NLC director, Sun Yigang, NLC deputy director, Wang Chen, director assistant of Bureau for External Cultural Relations, the Ministry of Culture, and Zhao Xin, director of Asia Division of Bureau for External Cultural Relations, attended the opening ceremony. Chen Li, NLC executive deputy director, Wei Dawei, NLC deputy director, Sun Yigang, NLC deputy director, and experts from America, Britain, Denmark and so on gave lectures for the attendees. The attendees also visited the National Museum of Classic Books, Tianjin Library, the Palace Museum, and so on.
This seminar aimed to further strengthen the exchanges between Chinese libraries and libraries in South Asia, deepen practical operation, facilitate the establishment of dialogue and cooperation mechanism of Asian libraries, and promote prosperous development of Asian librarianship.
